Perspectives on Contemporary Public Policy Issues

Diplomacy and Violence

I found this class while making some last minute schedule changes.  On the first day of Winter quarter I STILL didn't know what my schedule was or what classes I would be taking.  I don't deal with uncertainty like that very easily.  Luckily, I stumbled upon this class, which seemed like a good balance to my STEM heavy schedule.  I also wanted to take a political science class and this class was a great intro.  I liked Professor Gill's request that we don't take notes, but rather sit back and enjoy ourselves.  It was a refreshing way to learn for learning's sake (it was a credit/no credit class).  I enjoyed learning about some things I knew basically nothing about, such as food politics and Guantanamo Bay.  I hope to encounter more courses like this one, an exciting intro for the curious, a class that people take for no other reason than to round themselves out.
